A third-generation merchant bank with a regulatory compliance record described by the Bank of England as "creative" and by BenCorp's Patricia as "a cry for help rendered in double-entry bookkeeping." BenCorp was retained following an inquiry. The inquiry was not the first.

A mid-sized municipal council that had purchased a computer in 1982 and had not, as of 1985, successfully turned it on. BenCorp was retained by the Deputy Chief Executive, who described the situation as "a learning experience." Gerald described it as "a procurement failure of considerable ambition."
